For more than forty years, the Combatant Craft Division (CCD) within the Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) has provided full spectrum, full life cycle engineering for combatant craft, boats, watercraft and associated hull, mechanical, electrical and electronic systems. CCD exercises Technical Authority for combatant craft and conducts total craft systems engineering and integration at one central location in Norfolk, Virginia - synergy that maximizes warfighter performance while minimizing total ownership costs.
Our Mission:
The Combatant Craft Division provides superior quality,
total systems engineering support for all types of manned
and unmanned combatant craft, boats, and advanced marine
vehicles. This includes full spectrum and full life cycle
engineering, research and development, concept feasibility,
design, test and evaluation, and integrated logistics support.
Our Customers:
Combatant Craft Division (CCD) supports the U.S. Navy, Army, Marine Corps, Naval Special Warfare, Air Force, Coast Guard and other DoD and non-DoD activities including private industry.
CCD leverages boat and craft lessons learned across the DoD community and works collaboratively to transfer technology and combine resources to reduce redundancy and improve efficiency.

Our Facilities and Location:
Combatant Craft Division's (CCD) location in Norfolk provides close proximity to numerous commands, ranges and facilities including Joint Atlantic and Chesapeake Ranges Cooperative (JACRC) which minimizes response times and ensures optimal test and evaluation conditions.
The Hampton Roads area provides easy access to: Riverine, Littoral, Coastal, Open Ocean, Shallow and Deep Water via the Atlantic Ocean, Chesapeake Bay and James and Elizabeth Rivers.
